Appreciating the Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran for holding the seminar, Biruk Ayele, the president of Mekane Yesus University, stated that peace and peaceful coexistence are one of the most fundamental issues of the present era in the world.

Then, referring to the history of interreligious dialogue in Iran and the world, Seyed Hassan Heidari, the Iranian cultural attaché in Ethiopia, stated that one of the main missions of the Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to pave the way for academic dialogue among different ethnic groups and religions in Ethiopia.

Heidari added: "In fact, this academic conference increases the ways of knowing and understanding between Muslims and Christians from each other and proves that not only interreligious dialogue in communities is intrinsically valuable, but also is the best tool available to raise the religious and ethnic tolerance and stable and peaceful coexistence in societies such as Ethiopia".

Following the meeting, Hassan Saeed, a university professor and the director of Ethiopian Studies Department in Addis Ababa University, gave some explanation about Islam and the word of religious tolerance and reviewed the best ways of maintaining and promoting peace, coexistence, tolerance and religious tolerance in future generations.

Tahir Muhammad Ali, a university professor and the representative of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in Ethiopia, in addition to explaining current situation in the world, talked about tolerance with the followers of other religions.

Then, Masresha Mengiste, a university professor and the director of International Relations Department in Mekane Yesus University, in addition to mentioning several historical cases from the books of Muslims and Christians in Ethiopia, stated that interreligious dialogue is the only way to solve problems and accept cultural and religious diversity in society such as Ethiopia with several ethnic groups and religions.

In this meeting, Yousefi, a political expert from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran also delivered a speech and stated: "Violence and terrorism that are now observed across the world are caused by ignorance and misunderstanding of religious issues and hence the necessity of holding such meetings is increased as the facts and scientific comments of religions are revealed through meetings and interreligious dialogue".

At the end of the seminar, questions and answers were conducted among participants, professors and students.
